2008

Summer
With two shows behind me I'm gearing up for a busy commercial photo season, but not ignoring the art completely. The gallery is still open by appointment and I'll continue adding new pieces as they are completed.
Let me know what you think.

And here's the final on the Max Velinsky Rear Torso. This piece is one of my finest colorations. The new techniques I'm doing have created a whole new finish that I'll be incorporating into all of my future pieces. He was delivered today and is on display at the gallery in Escondido.

Here's an update on the Rear Torso of Model Max Velinsky for the Robert Ferguson Gallery.
The first is a base coat with the first wash and the second adds another wash of color.
A work in process that's looking really good!

Well it's been nearly a month since the House Boi and Studio show and the opening at the Robert Ferguson Gallery. Here are some shots from both events! And a special thank you to all that voted for me for outstanding community artist Nicky Award. It was a great event with dinner at Hawthornes and the ceremonies at the beautifully renovated North Park Theatre. Thanks Jay from the Rage for hosting me at their table and VIP row!

New Pieces! I finally got the finished color on the newest piece that model Max Velinsky and I did.
Really beautiful coloration on this piece, a combination of stainless steel and copper wash over black.
It is just a wonderful classic torso.
And a new raw unfinished piece model Matthew Roda. This piece is a first of a kind for me that captures the emotional quality of the hand positions with the inclusion of the lips and chin and captures a full jock and thighs.

My next show will premiere the "Future Artifacts" series, including the erotics. It will be a two night event starting with a preview showing at House Boi on Friday April 25th and the premiere here at the gallery on Saturday April 26th. For more show information click here.

And . . .more new work!
How about this new piece!? Model James Ellis came back to do another torso. Wow! Just an incredible physique and what I consider to be one of my finest peces. I'm trying some new color techniques that are
yielding some beautiful results. I look forward to working with James again. Keep tuned . . .
Also a new butt cast that isn't photo'd, but . . will be soon.

And I'll be taking two more pieces to the HouseBoi store.
We are planning an event in April/May time frame.

A quick update to the expanding Underwear/Jock Collection. "Bike Butt" not only refers to the Jock and Anatomy, but the model teaches cycling classes. So it truly is a Bike Butt. See more here.

Here's the latest pieces to receive color! I'm very excited about the new direction the jocks are taking.
Also Cory Torso, which is probably the finest classic style piece I've done, finally received it's color.
Keep tuned for more from my model Cory Norlund. We'll be expanding his work to the Malefolio site soon.
My new Rage cover and center fashion spread for February. We were the exclusive first crew to photograph at the Liberace estate in Palm Springs. It was a most incredible shoot.

I've cast two new torso artifact pieces and two new jock pieces this week, including one new erotic.
Here are a couple of earlier casts that are just getting color. This week is high production on finishing pieces, so keep tuned in!

My new Rage cover and center fashion spread for January. The cover features the incredibly handsome model Robby Zumaya. I discovered Robby when he was 16, but didn't get the chance to shoot him until recently. Watch for much more from him.
I got the chance today to photograph the excellent physique of one of my lifecasts models, Max.
Keep watching here and the Malefolio blog for more Max in 2008!
We'll be doing another cast and photoshoot plus interviews and video of behind the scenes.
I also completed the first of the new jock series : tattered jock 1. There will soon be four more additions to this series. I'll put them up as soon as they are finished. Plus new underwear pieces and still to come . . . swim!

It's my baby Ginger's birthday. The big 13, 91 in dog years. She's still pretty feisty with a good appetite so we're pretty blessed. I had the opportunity to photograph model James Ellis with the cast we did. We are scheduled to do another piece in the first part of 2008.
My sculptures are taking on a whole new form with the headpieces and additional ornamentation that I'm working on. I'm so very excited to be working with the clay and sculpting that I have to share my works in progress. "Mercury The Messenger" is coming along very nicely, I think it's going to be an extraordinary sculpture when completed. Also featured here is the first in my series of New Warriors. The clay is in a very rough form right now, but I just had to share my enthusiasm.
